SMUTTY NOSE LIGHTHOUSE

"LightHouse at The Isles of Shoals" As I have said before a trip to the Isles of Shoals is a must when you visit the area. They are located about 7 miles off shore and can be seen from Hampton Beach. There are many different cruises that will bring you out there. My favorite is Captain Sue's Lobster boat. You will find her operating out of one of the tiny cabins at Rye Harbor. This is the most intimate way to experience the Isles. By the way she will also take you out lobstering if you wish. Please note you don't keep the lobsters!

HAMPTON SAND SCULPTURE COMPETITION

The Sand Sculpture Contest is held at Hampton Beach each year. Masters of the art of creating these giants come from all over the country. They have a week to create them then they are judged on Saturday. They usually remain standing for about a week. The detail is amazing. Most of the larger ones have a framework inside to help support the enormous weight. The sand is mixed with a glue to keep it in place. they actually can survive a moderate rain.
