STAR ISLAND AT THE ISLES Of SHOALS

Star Island

When your standing at Hampton Beach and looking out and up the coast a little bit you'll see the Isles of Shoals. The stuff that Pirartes tales are made of. Some say Blackbeards treasure is still out there waiting to be found. Pick up a book about Celia Thaxter at your local Library She has some tales to tell. But for today this is a picture of the main island which is named Star Island. The large building use to be a public Hotel now is owned by a religious organization. You can actually make limited dinner reservations on certain nights. Check at Rye Harbor for the details on that. Definitely worth a closer look. Enjoy.

NUBILE LIGHT YORK ME

Another day trip from Hampton beach would be a trip up the coast too York Beach in Maine. This is a picture of Nubile Light which is a working lighthouse. To get to York you can take route 95 and take the York exit just before the Maine toll. Or head towards the Portsmouth Shipyard and take the scenic route. Either way you'll find York to be charming with shops and a very long beach. Much more civilized than Hampton Beach. No arcades or rows of junk food stands. You'll will find some very good restaurants and some quality shops. Parking can be a problem so get there early. I'm sure you'll enjoy this trip. From Hampton taking 95 it's about a half hour ride. Or take your Vespa and enjoy the scenic route!

DUCK BOATS AT HAMPTON BEACH

HAMPTON DUCK BOAT

Here is a great way to spend an hour seeing the sites at Hampton Beach. Take a Duck Boat Ride. Bostons not the only place you can do this. You'll go into Hampton harbor and river and see site you won't see any other way unless you were to rent a boat. And if your not an expert boat person these waters are nothing to fool with so take the Duck Boat ride. The Hampton area gives the appearance of being well developed however when you get a view behind the scenes or from a plane you'll discover that most of the area is still woods. Let's keep it that way!

DINNER IN PORTSMOUTH VESPA STYLE

VESPAS ON THE SEACOAST

Gather a few of your friends and stuff them in your side car. Just pick one from above. Let's take a retro ride to Portsmouth for some Italian food at Rosa's! Let's take off from Hampton beach and head up route 1A nice and slow. The perfect get away from the bussel at the beach. All you'll see is great ocean views and some fantastic real estate. After getting to the end of route 1A take a right and continue into down town Portsmouth. You'll have no problem finding State St and that's where Rosa's Italian restaurant is. Very informal, great food and reasonable prices. Rosa's has been at that location forever. After dinner hop back on the Vespas and head just down the street to Prescott park and see what's going on there. No problem parking with your little scooter. The Public flower gardens are spectacular take some time to walk through. Now just head back through Newcastle and back to 1A and that's it! You've probably spent about 3 hours or more of total fun! By the way the Vespas above are the $5995 models with the side cars.
If you would like more Vespa information call Robin Arnold at 603 433 2020. Please tell her you heard about it on the hampton nh site.
