Dozens of life-size, homemade scarecrows will be on display throughout Settlers' Green for this 10-day celebration and they'll all be competing for more than $2500 in cash awards and recognition.

DEERFIELD FAIR FROM HAMPTON NH

SEPTEMBER 29-OCTOBER 2 - The 129th version of “New England’s Oldest ‘Family Fair’®” opens on September 29th at the Deerfield Fairgrounds in Deerfield, NH. The fair offers four full days of events, starting with the first of several all-breed horse shows at 9:00am on September 29th. Throughout the day, fairgoers can enjoy everything from pig scrambles to a woodsmen contest to country music’s Tammy Jackson and her band performing at 7:00pm. Some events are repeated every day of the fair. On September 30th, a number of Future Farmers of American contests take place and the Miss Deerfield Fair pageant starts at 5:00pm. October 1st opens with oxen judging, followed by events such as 4-H shows, a 3600-pound horse pull, and even a swine costume contest. On Sunday, activities continue with Dwight Damon’s Star-Spangled Circus, sheep dog demonstrations, and an appearance by 1950s television legend Rex Trailer with Sergeant Billy and Goldrush on the Show Stage. Also on the fairgrounds will be entertainers such as Sherrie the Balloon Lady, Jovial Joe Howard, and the Deerfield Dixielanders. A midway offers exciting amusement park rides and those who wait all year just to sample the terrific and varied fair food will find everything from sausage subs to old-fashioned cotton candy to funnel cake. FALL APPROACHES FROM HAMPTON NH

It seems like it was just a few weeks ago we were worried about Hampton Beach being able to open for Memorial day due to the string of storms that took their tool on the beaches. Now we are just a couple of days away from fall. Fall foliage season is only a couple of weeks away. This week we still see summer weather so we better get out and enjoy it. Let's hope the rain over last weekend and the rain we are expecting today will give a boost to the trees in order for a spectacular foliage season.
