WHAT ABOUT CRIME?

I just received an e-mail asking about crime at Hampton Beach. The crime rate for the entire area is generally quite low year round. However Hampton Beach because of the nature of what it is can be higher. Anytime you have a up to 250,000 people in a small area like that your going to have some problems. Mostly do to drinking or drug use and the usual trouble makers. Having said that state and local police are everywhere! On foot, bicycle, horseback and in cars. They do an excellent job without interfering with the fun. However they can't be everywhere. I have never had a problem but I know plenty of people who have. So why haven't I? I stay off the side streets except the ones from the Ashworth Hotel up to the end of the Casino. These areas are well lit and heavily patrolled. I lock my car when I'm at the beach. And the usual common sense type things. You Know, don't flash money, keep your wallet in your front pocket and just plain be aware of your surroundings. In general don't worry about it, have fun!!
