SALISBURY BEACH
When the kids get tired of the arcade action at Hampton beach and need more than just fun in the sun it's time to head south to Salisbury Beach! Head south on route 1A about five miles and your there. Plenty of parking, more than enough junk food and amusement rides. This is not Six Flags by a long shot but should be enough to keep them busy for a few hours. Now you can get the real "Beach Pizza" Tripoli's and Cristy's Pizza are right next to each other. They both have the exact same thin crust, watery sauce square pizza for exactly the same price. However the battle lines are drawn! Are you a Cristy's or a Tripoli's lover. I happen to be a Tripoli's freak. Many arguments have been caused by this subject.
Salisbury Beach has changed significantly over the years. It had a major face lift about 15 years ago. Prior to that it was always quite seedy and still can be a bit on the rough side after 10 pm.
Salisbury Beach reservation is a great escape. They do charge admission. Camping is also available with plenty of room for a tent or RV. Take some time and walk the boardwalks built over the sand to protect the doons.
One other note on Salisbury, The beaches drop of rather quickly. Watch the undertow it really is severe. Stay close to the lifeguards.
